Replace, Repair, or Rekey?
Not every tired lock needs replacing. If the hardware is solid and the problem is who holds the keys, rekeying costs less and does the same job. Replacement earns its keep when a lock is worn out, damaged, or cheap enough that a determined shove beats it. And a fair share of calls are repairs: latches that stopped catching, hinges, locks that just need adjusting. We tell you which of the three your door needs before any work starts.
What We Put on Doors
This summer's job log runs past a hundred installation and replacement visits, and smart locks lead the list: a dozen installed since late May, from Turtle Point Road in Charlotte to Nighthawk Way in Belmont. Most smart deadbolts fit the same door prep as a standard lock, so the swap is quick, and we walk you through codes and resets before we leave.
The rest is the everyday hardware of Charlotte doors: deadbolts and handle sets for homes, keypads for people done with carrying keys, levers for offices, and the storefront side of the trade, from barrel locks for retail fixtures to the exit devices and door closers covered on our commercial page. When keyways agree, new locks can be pinned to match the key you already carry.
Recent Installation Work
A few entries from this summer. A smart lock installed on Turtle Point Road in Charlotte and another on Vecchio Drive in Indian Land. New locks put in on Tipperary Drive in Denver, on Franklin Meadows Drive in Matthews, and on Westfield Road in Charlotte. On Mock Orange Drive a routine service call turned into a locks install once we saw the doors.
Chains send us to their stores for the same work: this summer that meant a barrel lock installed at a pharmacy in Castle Hayne and a lock replaced, with new keys cut, at a discount store in Fayetteville. And on Waterton Court in Huntersville the ticket split down the middle, two locks rekeyed and two replaced, which is exactly the judgment call this page is about.

Installation and Replacement Questions
If the hardware is in good shape and the problem is who might hold a key, rekey it and save the difference. Replace when the lock is worn, damaged, or too low quality to trust. Our technician checks the lock on the spot and quotes both ways when both are options.
In most cases yes. Common smart deadbolts use the same door prep as a standard deadbolt, so they go on without drilling new holes. We install them regularly, set up the codes with you, and leave the backup key working.
Often, yes. If the new lock uses the same keyway as your current key, we can pin it to match, so one key keeps running every door. Tell us what you have when you call and we will bring hardware that fits.
We repair plenty: latches that stopped catching, locks that need adjusting rather than swapping, hinges, door closers on commercial doors. When a repair will hold, that is what we quote. When it will not, we say so and show replacement options.
